Unless one looks it up at dictionary.com for the American English pronunciation, you&#8217;ll encounter many, many variants when watching falling down the inevitable YouTube rabbit hole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Castaway Cay:<\/strong> Disney once put out merchandise and promotions about &#8220;A perfect day at Castaway Cay&#8221; which made folk think it should be pronounced &#8216;KAy.&#8217; However, many resources will inform you that the proper pronunciation (regardless of American versus British) is &#8216;Key.&#8217; Think of it as the Florida Keys &#8211; key = island, at least Caribbean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Disembarkation:<\/strong> Varions I of this include disembarkment and disbark. It means getting off the ship &#8211; be it at port or the final morning of the cruise to go home. This is the opposite of embarkation\/embark for getting on the ship. I&#8217;ve heard both &#8220;DIS-em-baar-QUE&#8221; and &#8220;DE-baark.&#8221; I personally are partial to the latter, based on my high school French classes. Google thinks it is &#8216;di\u00b7suhm\u00b7<strong>BAARK<\/strong>&#8216;, lending credence to my preference. Google also adds that debark and disembark are essentially the same.
