It was always impeccably clean, food was really good, crew were incredibly helpful and kind, and service across the board was splendid.

It is the sister ship to the Magic, which helped us to acclimate quickly. Despite different names for two of the main dining rooms, the menus were similar. What was interesting was that the spaces we frequented on the Magic mostly did not become the spaces we frequented on the Wonder. For both ships, we enjoyed spending time in the French Quarter/Soul Cat Lounge as well as trivia and adult activities in Fathoms/Azure. On the Magic, we were more inclined to spend time in Keys, whereas on the Wonder we preferred the Crown and Fin pub.

I like the small size of these ships, it makes getting around easier. Plus having three elevators/stairs options and their placement were good, too. The smaller atrium I feel is problematic whenever it was dinner time – between the officers, photo opportunities, and a line to get into Triton’s, it was a chaotic and crowded mess. It always increased my anxiety.

I also made note how (on all four original ships) the doorways the track on deck 4 would be heck for one who is in a scooter/wheelchair/stroller/crutches. Between a button opening one of the sets of doors and the slight incline it actually felt unsafe or at least anxiety producing. The elevators were also quick to close and it took both of us watching to see/hear when an elevator arrived (to get on). I suspect those with mobility aids or a family with kids might find this challenging.

Overall, it is a lovely ship and had some of the best crew (in multiple areas) that I have ever witnessed, as well as the most on one ship at a time. I look forward to one day doing a San Diego cruise on it in the far future.

Recently, we had the opportunity to join some friends to sail on the Wonder in Alaska.
