Getting There

Tre Vele is located in Sandy Springs, GA in the City Walk shopping center. There is parking available, either for the restaurant directly, communal parking at the shopping center, or street parking outside the shopping center. On Saturday evenings there is valet parking. I did not use valet parking and the pricing was not posted, so I am unsure how much it is.

There is a MARTA bus stop a 5-10 minute walk away on Roswell Road, just South of Hammond Drive.

What's in a name?

Tre Vele is an Italian restaurant. It was renamed to Tre Vele from Three Sheets (which is how it will show on your credit card statement.) They regularly try new recipes and update the menu with the popular dishes, so the menu posted online may be outdated. They have event space as well as an Italian market.

Ambiance

Walking into Tre Vele felt like an oasis from the urban Sandy Springs. There is greenery everywhere, warm woods and curtains to separate areas making each section feel private. I was there in the evening with some friends and the whole restaurant was dimmed. The tiny lamps on the table were not touch sensitive and did not provide much light, we all had trouble reading the menu. We were sat at a table with two chairs and a banquet. The banquet had pillows that took up space and I moved to the window sill.

The Service

Our waitress was the perfect level of attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. She had great suggestions for both food and drinks. I felt that it took awhile for food to be delivered to our table, which I guessed that being Saturday night the kitchen was slammed.

The Food

I was the one of our group to choose the restaurant. I had been there for a friend's event a few years prior, and she had mentioned the cacio e pepe was fantastic. There is an opportunity to experience cacio e pepe that is finished in a parmasean cheese wheel with truffle oil; this is only available Tuesday nights. Needless to say, one of my friends and I decided to come back with our husbands for this experience.

We started with sharing the honey whipped ricotta and two of us splitting the beet and burrata. The ricotta was like a cloud it was so fluffy and the honey wasn't overpowering. The beets and burrata was wonderful - letting the beet and tomato flavor shine and enhanced from the marinade. The burrata was really oozy and once the skin was punctured more a sauce but had an incredible freshness to it. (We had the pistachios on the side for my friend to have but me to be safe since I am allergic to nuts.)

For mains I had the pappardelle - between the waitress's description/recommendation as well as the fact it had lamb ragu. The pasta was light and thinner than pappardelle I've had in the past which I liked. The ragu wasn't overly saucey nor tomato forward. The lamb really stood out. I was surprised that it was chunks of lamb that had been shredded rather than a ground version - it felt more authentic and rustic.

My friends chose the spinach and ricotta ravioli, squid ink pasta, and branzino.

For dessert my friends had the seasonal crostada (peach), pistachio pound cake, and chocolate tart. I really wanted to have the chocolate tart, but it is made with almond flour.

I had a lemon tart with gently macerated strawberries. It was the perfect combination of tart to sweet. I honestly want to go back, just to have this dessert again.
